Chris: "Try it!"
We have been tring for 14 months, with clearblue ovulation test & I even bought the clearblue fertility monitor but no luck. I bought this product 1 month 1/2 ago, and I am pregnant now! I got pregnant the first cycle I used the lubricant.. Could be a coincidence but definitely worth trying in my opinion

Yes, certain fertility-friendly lubricants can support conception by mimicking natural cervical mucus and maintaining sperm motility, unlike regular lubricants which can be spermicidal. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) acknowledges that lubricant choice matters when trying to conceive. Look for products specifically labeled as fertility-friendly or sperm-safe when shopping.
How long should you try before seeing a fertility specialist?
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends seeing a fertility specialist after 12 months of unprotected intercourse if you're under 35, or after 6 months if you're 35 or older. If you have known fertility issues or irregular cycles, consultation earlier may be beneficial. Many US insurance plans require this timeframe before covering fertility treatments.
Are ovulation predictor kits like Clearblue reliable for tracking fertility?
Ovulation predictor kits are generally 99% accurate at detecting the LH surge that precedes ovulation, making them reliable tools for identifying your fertile window. However, they work best for people with regular cycles and don't guarantee pregnancy, as timing and other fertility factors also matter. Combining them with other tracking methods, like basal body temperature or cervical mucus observation, can increase accuracy.
What should I look for when choosing a fertility lubricant?
Choose lubricants specifically labeled as "fertility-friendly" or "sperm-safe," as they maintain a pH and osmolality compatible with sperm survival, unlike conventional lubricants. Check that products are FDA-cleared or have been clinically tested for use during conception attempts. Avoid mineral oil, petroleum jelly, and most over-the-counter lubricants, which can impair sperm motility.
Does fertility lubricant improve pregnancy success rates?
While fertility-friendly lubricants remove a barrier to conception by not harming sperm, they are not a fertility treatment and don't address underlying medical causes of infertility. Research shows they optimize conditions for sperm survival, but pregnancy success depends on many factors including ovulation, sperm quality, and overall reproductive health. If conception hasn't occurred after 12 months of trying with appropriate tools, consult a fertility specialist for evaluation.
Can I use regular lubricant if I'm trying to conceive?
No, regular lubricants often contain ingredients that are toxic to sperm or create an inhospitable environment, reducing your chances of conception. Common lubricants like Astroglide and KY Jelly can immobilize or kill sperm, making them counterproductive when trying to get pregnant. Always use products specifically formulated as fertility-friendly when attempting conception.
Should I get fertility testing before trying conception aids?
If you've been trying for less than 12 months (or 6 months if over 35), using fertility-friendly tools like ovulation kits and lubricants is reasonable before pursuing formal testing. However, if you have irregular cycles, painful periods, a history of STIs, or other known health concerns, consulting a fertility specialist first is recommended. Insurance coverage for fertility testing typically begins after documented attempts to conceive without success.
